Armondo Pavone, Partner and General Manager The restaurant business found Armondo, he'll tell you. Early on, Pavone's entrepreneurial verve, spurred a pizza by the slice operation - well before the rage caught on - in downtown Seattle. Later he moved it to Renton. That operation evolved into the wildly popular Armondo's Cafe Italiano in Renton. Armondo jokes about the path his career took, dubbing himself "the accidental restaurateur." He knows a good menu and the way to zero in on a niche. People warm up quickly to his charisma and bright ideas, which have enabled him to garner community support and get good people involved. When he and longtime friends Kimberly and Tim Searing along with Charles and Beverly Keeslar invested in the Melrose, Pavone's vision of creating it back into a neighborhood bar and "beefing it up" with a steak house proved to be another winning concept. After design work and restoration, Pavone's team has led the Melrose to an early success in its first year.
